Parkinsons organisations across Australia are going to get another massive boost in fundraising this year with the announcement that our favourite event (so favourite in fact we sponsor it) is back for 2010 - and now in MORE states than ever before!
A great family day out, the walks are hosted by your state’s Parkinson’s organisation to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease.
Parkinson’s disease is a slowly progressive illness that predominantly affects movement. It is the 2nd most common degenerative neurological condition and affects more than 80,000 Australians. There is currently no known cause, prevention or cure.
Parkinson’s Unity Walk began in NSW in 2008 and was a great success in raising the profile of Parkinson’s in Australia. It also raises vital fundraising dollars that fund support services and research. We are delighted to announce that there are Parkinson’s Unity Walks now taking place in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
This event is more than just a day out – it’s a chance to make a real difference. It’s a community event that brings people living with Parkinson’s, their families and supporters together - all for a common cause.
Everyone is welcome; mums, dads, grandparents, children, aunties, uncles, friends, workmates and neighbours are encouraged to be a part of this positive and uplifting day .
Fundraising is an important part of the event and will ensure that your local Parkinson’s organisation can continue to fund research into this debilitating disease and provide the essential support services needed to help people “live well with Parkinson’s”
Join us for the 2010 Parkinson’s Unity Walk. Who will you be walking for?
