Parkinson’s Western Australia provides support services to people with Parkinson’s, their family carers and allied health professionals.
Our services include:
Information & Referral Service – An extensive library of print and audio-visual resources and quality educational materials can be borrowed by members, health professionals, students and lay groups. A bi-monthly newsletter is sent to members.
Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Service – Provides education, support and ongoing monitoring. Three nurses cover the metropolitan area and conduct home visits assisting patients with the management of the condition. Access to this service may be by self referral or as referred by your treating doctor or health professional. There is no charge for this service.
Community and Professional Education – Parkinson’s WA provides speakers to a variety of community groups and education programmes are available for health professionals and students. Seminars are held on various topics of interest to people with Parkinson’s and their carers.
Support Groups – 24 support groups meet on a regular basis throughout metropolitan and regional WA.
Complimentary Therapy: Art Therapy and Yoga sessions are held on a weekly basis.
Research – The organisation funds small projects aimed at improving the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s.
