The Council on the Ageing says industrial action affecting Canberra bus services needs to be resolved quickly.
Maintenance staff at ACTION are refusing to work any overtime as part of their campaign for better pay, impacting on the maintenance and refuelling of buses.
That has seen the downgrading of weekend bus services, with a restricted timetable being run on Saturday and services cancelled altogether on Sunday April 10.
Council on the Ageing ACT executive director Paul Flint says many senior residents rely on the bus network.
"They decide not to go out that weekend but they can't continue to do that," he said.
"A lot of older people that attend churches go by buses and so it is very disruptive for those people and they feel socially isolated because of it."
He says it is causing problems.
"There's some people who've told us about the uncertainty of actually knowing what's going on and whether they can get a bus, and having to reorganise things because of the uncertainty.
"A significant number of them are dependent on buses. They like to know when they're coming and be able to organise their life just as we might, and so it doesn't help them at all."
